چکیده
Abstract We conducted polarimetric observations of comet 21P/Giacobini–Zinner in the optical wavelength region using imager PICO equipped with 50 cm telescope for Public Outreach at Mitaka Campus National Astronomical Observatory Japan on UT 2018 September 16, a solar phase angle 77° comet. used Gunn’s i ′-band filter to cover where sunlight reflected by dust grains dominates cometary spectra. The intensity map showed an elongated coma structure along east–west direction. linear polarization degree was almost uniform and no evidence jet or arc structures inner coma. 22% coma, which is consistent other this previous apparitions reported literature. measured angles (179°) were nearly perpendicular position scattering plane 271°. There significant changes properties (composition, porosity, size distribution) from its 1985 apparitions. spectral gradient flat range ∼510–830 nm ∼77° during apparition.

Radar observations of Comet 2P/Encke during the 2003 apparition
The nucleus of Comet 2P/Encke was detected with the Arecibo radar during the close approach of November, 2003, making this the first comet to yield radar detections at two different apparitions. Although the measured radar cross section of 1.0 km2 was close to that obtained in 1980, the Doppler bandwidth was nearly four times larger. Most of this bandwidth difference can simply be attributed to...
متن کاملSpectroscopy of 46 P / Wirtanen during its 1997 apparition
Comet 46P/Wirtanen was observed during five observing runs around its perihelion passage from 1997 January 28 to June 02. The spectra acquired extend from 5200 to 10000 Å at spectral resolutions of 12 Å and 18Å. A total of 16 spectral averages, each comprising about 40 minutes of integration time, were obtained. The production rate of H2O near perihelion averaged 2.7 × 1028 molecules/sec. The c...
متن کاملImaging Polarimetry for Industrial Inspection
The use of the polarisation properties of light for the determination of significant aspects of surfaces in an industrial setting is considered. It is concluded that the technique is both general and robust enough to warrant development. An example is presented of the use of the polarisation signature of surfaces to achieve efficient segmentation of metals and dielectrics in the presence both o...
متن کاملNear - Infrared Imaging Polarimetry of HD 142527 ?
Context. HD 142527 is a pre-transition disk with strong evidence for on-going planet formation. Recent observations show a disrupted disk with spiral arms, a dust-depleted inner cavity and the possible presence of gas streams driving gas from the outer disk towards the central star. Aims. We aim to derive the morphology of the disk, as well as the distribution and properties of the dust at its ...
متن کاملRetinal imaging by laser polarimetry and optical coherence tomography evidence of axonal degeneration in multiple sclerosis.
BACKGROUND Optical coherence tomography (OCT) and scanning laser polarimetry with variable corneal compensation (GDx) are similar yet provide information on different aspects of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) structure (thickness values similar to histology for OCT vs birefringence of microtubules for GDx). OBJECTIVES To compare the ability of OCT and GDx to distinguish eyes of patients wit...
